An Autumn Homage

Autumn.  What a season—full and bright, with so many leaves turning red, orange, gold.  Fruition and harvest time.  And for some, a time of poignancy, too, a time of shifting light and letting go.

For us, on the first day of fall, we had to say goodbye to our dear little shared doggie, Cosi.  She was 18 l/2 years old and with us and her other mother for 16 l/2 of those years.  She was a conduit of family, fun and love, and was a joyous blessing in our lives.

Though she is physically gone, I know that her spirit will continue to infuse our lives.  Plus, the “sound” of her is with me every day because her dog tag is now on my silver charm bracelet.  When it hits up against a neighboring charm, I hear the jingling I so often heard when taking Cosi for a walk.

Thanks, Cosi, for bringing us so much joy all these years.  I’m going to think of you every time I eat Parmesan Chicken, one of your favorite meals, and I’m going to learn to sing and play “Over the Rainbow” on the ukulele just for you!🌈

Cosi, may your spirit romp free and happy, and please stay in touch.💓🐾

  • Ahhhhhh…..what a lovely tribute to precious Cosi. Perhaps that jingle on your wrist is Cosi saying “Hi Mom” as she runs around and chases toys with all of her friends wherever perfect doggies go. She is certainly eating chicken parm there in doggie heaven….ha….even my dogs don’t get that for dinner. I will look forward to that video of you playing Over The Rainbow….will John accompany with vocals? Love to you both. Your love, kindness and devotion gave that darling little creature the greatest of lives on earth. HUGS!!

  • Oh dear Lynn, blessings to you on your sweet Cosi’s transition. What a beautiful tribute! Sending love and light to you,

  • Loved your post, and Hugs to you and John for your loss.
We’ve had many pups over 55 years of marriage, and they
Have each been part of our family.

  • Dear Lynn,
Sending hugs to you, John, and Cosi’s other mom. I’m so sorry Cosi has passed.
I know how much love you all gave her, and what love and adventure she brought to you.

    • Thanks so much for your sweet words, Lenore and Mark. We’re so thankful for all the time and places, including Sun Valley, we could share with Cosi over her many years on the planet.💓

    • Thanks so much, Dianne. I’m so glad you and Owen got to meet her—and she, you
two💓💓. She was a little love, with a slight renegade side to her which made her even more endearing.😉

  • She’s running the beach, jumping the surf, chasing the Sanderlings; looking back at times, to make sure you are there ♥️ 🐾 ♥️
