“Small, Isn’t It!”
Perhaps that is what you will say about this blog entry. And you would be right.
This week has been about travelling back to California, getting a honker cold (new medical term!), making tea, taking naps, reading, and being thankful for every breath.
In my reading, I found a lovely quote that led me to remember another that led me to a personal family favorite. I share these with you now for your consideration:
“In the dew of little things, the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.”
Kahlil Gibran
“Few of us can do great things, but all of us can do small things with great love.”
Mother Theresa
“Small, isn’t it!”
Augie, my father
“Small isn’t it!” is what my father said when he first saw the diamond in my engagement ring, shown above. He didn’t say it in a derogatory way, just in a descriptive way, and he was right. And it was my choice. For those of you who know me, you know I like small things. Sometimes something small–a word, a gesture, a thought, a nod, a smile, a piece of dark chocolate– is all it takes to bring a rightness to the day.
…Small is more intimate…it requires us to come in closer. That in itself is a gift …and such a vast metaphor.
Thank you Lynn, Diane
Thanks for that insight, Diane. That feels warm and comfy.
Just want to say Lynn, thank you – for all the meaning and joy you are bringing into all of our lives. By continuing to explore and reach for joy you encourage all of us to step into it as we find it.
XOXOXXOXOXXOXOXXOXOXXOOXO, Always, Diane
Thanks so much, Diane. I really appreciate your support in continuing to look for the parts of our lives that can be little uppers to help balance the sadnesses and losses that come along in life.
